Stay Connected with Guan Yin

On November 18, 2018, after the program in Myanmar, we flew directly to Hong Kong to perform a Grand Tsok Offering. Last year, we held a fundraising dinner for the University for Life and Peace in Hong Kong. Thank you all who attended. This time right before Tsok Offering, we gave an update on the Maha Kusala Yama Monastery Elementary School in Naung Mon and the development of the University.

In this chaotic time, natural and man-made disasters are happening all the time. With global warming, ice caps are melting and seasons are changing disorderly. Earthquakes, floods, drought, etc. have increased tremendously that seedlings cannot sprout properly. Being the most intelligent inhabitant, how can mankind help to prevent disasters for a better future? We need a way to help mankind and species through this challenge.

We’ve just returned from the Parliament of World Religions (PoWR) where delegates from different religions and fields to discuss climate issues, man-made conflicts, and water scarcity. Everyone is aware of issues related to Earth instability. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has reported that if damage caused by human activity hasn’t mitigated by 2030, the planet will be close to destroyed. That being said, not only the planet can’t sustain, mankind can’t survive as well. Hence, we must take actions immediately.

Why should we care? There are about 7.3 billion people relying on the resources of Earth. Our survival depends on this planet, a living organic entity. When its structure is damaged, it can no longer function properly. Therefore, we must initiate a life of simplicity, don’t waste resources, and don’t degrade the environment. Together, we can help to relieve the ecological crisis. By the aspiration power of Guan Yin (Avalokiteshvara), we can help human and sentient beings to be free from suffering and attain happiness.

Dharma Doors of Guan Yin is the aspiration that responds to the needs of sentient beings by manifesting in endless forms. Guan Yin is our object of reliance when facing sufferings. Practice by the aspiration of Guan Yin, our suffering would also be alleviated.

In samsara, as long as we have faith in Guan Yin, she will come to rescue wherever we are. The Four Immeasurables (loving-kindness, compassion, joy, and equanimity) are what we should be engaging. Once we are in tune with Guan Yin’s aspiration, we can receive a profound impact and stay linked with Guan Yin like a stable Wi-fi connection.
